Preparation
Step 1
Heat oil in a large skillet over high heat.
Step 2
In a bowl, whisk egg with ice-cold water, then add the dry ingredients.

Using a fork, gently mix the batter—do not overmix.
Step 4
Add the mushrooms to the batter and immediately fry them in hot oil.
Step 5
Once golden, remove them from the oil and place on a wire rack to drain excess oil.
Step 6
To prepare the barbecue dressing, heat a little oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Step 7
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened and fragrant.
Step 8
Add Goody barbecue sauce, soy sauce, lemon juice, paprika, black pepper, and salt, and stir well.
Step 9
Place the fried mushrooms on a serving plate, drizzle with the sauce, garnish with green onions, and serve hot.
